I was poemed today with Lord Byron's poem (no title left) "So we'll go no more a-rowing".I was very surprised to receive this, amazing! English is my second language and so I didn't understand all of it. I realized that it was a love poem but it looked like a girl's writing and as I am a girl I was a little surprised.
I looked this poem up in Chinese and found that many people like this poem. Thank you for introducing me to my first English Romantic poet.
I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
What a surprise....I got poemed! My initial thought was, "What the heck is this? Darned advertising!"
When I read the poem I was still puzzled and thought a student had dropped the paper and someone put it on my windshield for safe keeping.........then I turned it over and read the instructions and here I am to participate with you.
I adore Maya Angelou and anything she writes. She is such a beautiful being in herself. "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" brought me to a still place where I reflected on the words. Indeed, we all want to be free. But how? What exactly is freedom? What are your bars that prevent your freedom? Even though our wings might have been clipped, there is still hope because in time feathers grow back. Lift your heart and sing...........
I see this verse as words of hope.
Thank you for sharing and giving me something to contemplate today. Was it the yellow of my car that drew you to leave your sunny yellow illistrated poem with me?
In all honesty, "Fire and Ice" blows.
RE: I know why the caged bird sings
Thank you so much for replying to the poem I left on your car! It was definitely the colour that attracted me to it. I am so glad that you liked it, and what a coincidence that you already like that author. That is not the full poem, but the parts that I really liked.
Thanks again,
A grade 12 Reynolds English student
